OKAY - SO ELTON JOHN SANG AT RUSH LIMBAUGH'S WEDDING [Rachel Watkins]
6/7/2010
Why am I posting this? Several reasons -

Rush Limbaugh is being married for the 4th time. I have a problem with those who want to follow his every word as truth but turn a blind eye to his inability to maintain a healthy relationship.

I also have an issue with Mr. Limbaugh who will asked Mr. John to sing at his wedding. Elton John his a well-known homosexual who publicly 'married' his partner last year. How do you invite someone whose entire lifestyle seems to be in direct opposition to what you profess to sing at your wedding??

Finally, that Elton John accepted the invitation. In a different circumstance, I imagine Mr. John would say he 'hates' all that Limbaugh says but when he comes with a check for $1M???

Such public hypocrisy - on both sides - just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

DOES THIS SURPRISE ANYONE? [Rachel Watkins]

Most of Planned Parenthood's $$ comes from gov'ts -

But, the fact that they are increasing their spending on youth problems should be seen as even more bothersome (and evil).

ANY FLANNERY O'CONNOR FANS OUT THERE? [Rachel Watkins]
6/7/2010
I will readily admit that I am not. I have tried to be and I have read her stories but could never see beyond the dark. I saw only the grotesque as mentioned in the article over at the Register.

This new book, which the article highlights has me intrigued. I was aware of her lupus (I have MS), I was aware of her devotion to her writing (my children/life prevent the 2 hours she had but I try) and I know she was a devoted Catholic (as am I).

So, while I may not like her work, I think - from the review of the book - I certainly will like the woman.

OKAY, HOW CAN YOU NOT KNOW YOU ARE PREGNANT??? [Rachel Watkins]
6/8/2010
http://travel.usatoday.com/cruises/post/2010/06/woman-who-gave-birth-on-cruise-ship-says-she-had-just-learned-of-pregnancy/95951/1?loc=interstitialskip

If the link won't work, go to USAToday and you'll find it in their travel section.

Now, I can understand this to a point. My brother, Dan, is a family doc. He tells the story of having doing an ER rotation during medical school. A woman enters the ER complaining of stomach pains. After a thorough exam, the doctor tells her she is pregnant. Impossible, she says, as the pain makes her double over in pain. Nope, you're pregnant and it is off to surgery for an emergency C-section. Attempts are made to reach the husband but in the days of no cell-phones they couldn't.

Throughout the whole time, she insists she is not pregnant, screams about suing the doctor, the hospital and everyone else, including God as SHE IS NOT PREGNANT.....until the doctor hands her a healthy 8 lb. baby boy.

What am I going to say to my husband?? was her first words.

Her story? She was profoundly obese. She says she hasn't had a period in years because of her weight issues. She couldn't feel the baby at all either and in that she hadn't been on the scale in years had no idea if she was gaining any add'l weight. She had felt such pains in the past but they were either kidney stones or severe indigestion or similar obesity related problems.

End story is that she (and hubby who was eventually reached) went home with a beautiful baby and she promised to lose weight.

So, the woman on the cruise is familiar but I wonder if she didn't just pretend not to know as cruise ships won't allow you to sail if you are over 26 weeks for just this reason.

ANDREA BOCELLI HAS MADE MY LIFE A BIT PRETTIER, MORE LOVELY [Rachel Watkins]
6/8/2010
His voice, his way of accepting his disability, his accent, his little bit on Sesame Street with Elmo and did I mention his voice???

Did you know this about him:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QfKCGTfn3o

If my link doesn't work to to youtube and type in "Andrea Bocelli tells a little story"

A little story about abortion. The abortion HIS mother was advised to get as her baby might be born with a disability.

A disability and a voice that hints at what angels must surely sound like.

The song he sings is translated:

"I want to live like this with the sun on my face, and I sing happily, gracefully. I want to live like this, with the air of the mountains, because this enchantment doesn’t cost anything."

Life is hard, hard choices must be made but at what cost and what will we lose.....

HAVE YOU SEEN THE DOGGIE DYE-JOBS IN CHINA [Rachel Watkins]

Is anyone taking note that is occurring in China? A country that won't allow you to have children, choose your job or religion or free press?

Of course, people are going to try to find expression in any way they can and animals can't argue or express their dismay at finding themselves dyed and doctored.

MARK SHEA OUTED ME! CONFIRMATION FOR YOUNGER CHILDREN [Rachel Watkins]
6/9/2010
I sent a letter to Mark Shea which he has used for a blog entry over at www.ncregister.com.

I was a bit surprised to see the title of his entry today - "Confirming Really Little Kids". But, patting myself on the back for inspiring him, I clicked on the link and realized that my letter and his response WAS the column.

Oh, well. Glad I was able to help him create a column and others who are perhaps dealing with this as well.

As I comment after his article (which I was glad to see linked to Little Flowers - www.eccehomepress.com) I'm already working on a LF wreath for younger ages and confirmation.

If you have any experience, ideas, suggestions or comments, I'd love to have them.

CANNED VS. FROZEN [Rachel Watkins]
6/10/2010
I prefer frozen all the time as I can better get the right amount I want without having to either waste any or put it in the fridge to get lost and fuzzy.

Now, there is additional reason to, perhaps, keep the cans on the shelf.

Apparently is outspoken about being chaste - feeling it strengthens women - I agree. This has made some young Catholics/Christians a bit more comfortable with her. But hold up as she is also offensive to Catholics - check out the latest from Bill -
