I DON'T USUALLY GET INTO POLITICS BUT THIS HEADLINE CAUGHT MY EYE [Rachel Watkins]

Three arrested in al-Qaida plot in Norway, officials say
Men thought to be planning attacks similar to thwarted NYC subway bombing...

Did you catch it? Did you notice??

They say NORWAY!!!

Norway?? Norway is now a hotbed for terrorists? The world is truly under attack when a country most noted for.....what? Can't think of what we know Norway for - which is just it. Norway just doesn't come to mind for anything much less terrorists and bombing plots.

Honestly, the fact that it did happen there gives me more concern that any news stories out of the Middle East. We expect terror from there, but when it comes to an unassuming country that has truly lived below the radar for most of us, I am a bit more concerned.

God Bless the people of Norway (and the world)

FEAR, WORRY, ANXIETY AND STRESS [Rachel Watkins]
7/8/2010
I remember seeing a church sign that read, "Fear shows you where you don't trust God".

I have been thinking of that sign lately. Do you think it is true?

I realize and accept that our God is not a God of fear but I also know that fear is an acceptable human emotion as long as we do not allow it to overtake us and our lives. Being afraid doesn't mean I don't trust God but more so that I am human and am merely afraid of some situation or circumstances.

For me, I would re-write the sign "Fear shows you where you need God most".

When I feel fearful, I try to imagine God right in that place, almost ignoring all else (which, of course, He cannot do and never does).

When I am afraid, I want God to direct all of his attention, love, mercy and wisdom there. When I do that with both images and prayers, I find that while I may still be unsure (and yes, even still afraid) I gain confidence in both my ability to handle what is coming but also the reassurance that no matter what happens God is there and He knows!

And knowing as they say, is half the battle.

IT IS HOT... [Rachel Watkins]
7/8/2010
too hot for someone with MS. If vampires weren't so 'cool' right now, I might make the joke that I feel as if I am living like one.

We are hiding in the house during the day, reading books, playing games and watching old movies. Yesterday we watched "The Three Worlds of Gulliver" with Kerwin Matthews. This Ray Harryhausen film was one of my favorites growing up. I wanted to be both the tallest in some imaginary world or explore being the smallest. Today we might see "Jason and the Argonauts" - the skeleton fights!!

Once the sun goes down, we are out playing and swimming until 9:00 or 9:30 and then off to bed, cooled down and tired out.

It is a good summer so far. Hope yours is as well.

Danielle Bean has a recommendation over at the Register:

Consider checking out - www.culturegauge.com if you feel out of sync with the world.

Like Danielle, I am encouraged by a site that is willing to state that somethings in the world are toxic as they really are.

TODAY THROWS A WEDDING - MATT WANTS TO DO IT [Rachel Watkins]
7/9/2010
A gay wedding.

After years of hosting a public wedding for years now. Back when I watched the Today show as a part of my morning routine. I haven't watched it in months and now I have good reason -

(Note: this story comes from USAToday.com and NOT from msnbc.com.)

http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/news/2010-07-08-today-wedding-contest_N.htm

My list of complaints about this whole issue begins with the Today Show's lack of ability/courage/strength in standing up to a population that at most rates 5%. Now, of course, the gay agenda committee will say they deserver special treatment in that they are a minority.

The show attempted to defend its decision by stating - accurately - they were merely following the laws of NY State which does not allow for gay marriage.

Oh, laws mean very little to this group as they said the couple could get a license in a state that legally allows gay marriage and merely use the Today show as a public ceremony. Oh, that makes it all okay.

The Today show caved and even extended the admission for tapes to allow for them. So, the Today Show wedding may very well be a gay ceremony.

My dh Matt wants to get in on this. He is suggesting he get a marriage license from a country that allows for polygamy and ask the Today Show to extend its deadline for him. I can't see any way to disagree with his logic. Apparently, I am on my way to Big Love! :-)

But seriously, you may want to consider voting for one of the couples over at the Today Show - one of the heterosexual couples as you know the gay agenda will do everything they can to make sure one of their own makes it to the Plaza.
